Broker Continuing Education Exemption

Firstly, it’s hard to believe that New York Real Estate board no longer allows real estate broker continuing education exemption. Secondly, for many learning how to complete this required continuing education is going to the biggest challenge. Manfred is happy to help because we have your best interest at heart.

Real Estate Salesperson and Brokers

Most importantly, you are required to successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved continuing education. Make sure to include, at least 3 hours of fair housing and/or discrimination. 1 hour of  Law of Agency, 2 hours if it is your first licensing cycle. 2.5 hours of ethical business practices and 1 hour of recent legal matters within the two-year period immediately preceding a renewal.

NEW LAW AS OF JULY 1, 2021

Secondly, below is a summary of the changes that every broker who once called themselves exempt should consider.

• The amendment REMOVES the 15 year real estate broker continuing education exemption and now requires all brokers who are currently exempted to complete continuing education starting July 1, 2021.

The new requirements are effective on the actual date the license expires. If the expiration date printed on your license is on or after July 1, 2021 you must meet the new requirement.
