Appraiser CE Requirements

Assistant, licensed, and certified appraisers must complete 28 hours of approved continuing education, including the 7-hour National USPAP Update Course, before each two-year renewal.

Valuation Bias and Fair Housing (effective January 1, 2026): Appraisers must complete a Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations course every two calendar years. The first time, the course must be 7 hours, unless you already completed the 7-hour version (plus exam) in your qualifying education. After that, a 4-hour course meets the requirement. This replaces New York's earlier fair housing and fair lending CE rule.

22.5 hours every two years, including 12.5 hours of required topics in your first renewal cycle and 11.5 hours after that.

Can I complete New York real estate CE online?

Yes. Approved live webinars and self-paced online courses both count toward your hours.

What happens if I don't finish my CE before my license expires?

You can't renew until your CE is complete. You can't legally practice while your license is expired, so finish your hours before your expiration date.

Do extra CE hours carry over to my next renewal?
