SERVING COLUMBIA COUNTY/UPPER HUDSON VALLEY ~ Mark grew up on a dairy farm in Upstate New York and learned about real estate early. Since then a broad range of real estate experience has continued to prove valuable in providing solid information to clients and buyers. Sotheby’s International Realty is a perfect match for Mark’s depth of knowledge and experience. Upon graduation from Cornell University, he took time out for some life-changing experience in the Peace Corps in Brazil. He worked in agricultural development in a state twice the size of Texas. Returning home he began his formal real estate career with a real estate appraisal firm in Ithaca, NY.
During that time he had the opportunity to appraise many remarkable properties throughout New York and the Northeast. Moving on to Eastern NY and the Upper Hudson Valley he began a long career managing the Agricultural Assessment Program for New York State until 2010. During that time both the real estate appraisal and brokerage licenses were actively continued. The first listing was a winery in the Finger Lakes for over a million dollars in 1981. In 2011 Mark received the highest honor of the New York Farm Bureau ~ the Distinguished Service to Agriculture award. Serving the local community, he has been on planning boards, library boards, Habitat for Humanity, and assisting local land conservancies. A client once said, “so Mark it sounds like you have worked in real estate all your life”, with a wink and a smile he says, “not yet”.
